sir Was is one of Sweden’s finest multi-instrumentalist composers. He consistently manages to bring together a variety of genres and styles into a cohesive piece. In this case, it’s the new single, ‘Spend A Lifetime’. The intro places his distant voice amongst playful piano work and wobbling synths before dropping us into a groovy verse you can’t help but nod along to. Trap-esque drums add a level of modernity to his work, while gooey bass synths hark to the era of acid house and his penchant for melody and impressive vocal delivery takes us towards soulful pop. sir Was’ is being widely appreciated at the moment, and he has recently collaborated with the likes of Casper Clausen. -Dan Peeke
